We are pleased to present a three-part screening of the important Video Art
collaboration, ‘Transitland’. The 100 videos and films juried and collected
into Transitland: Video Art from Central and Eastern Europe 1989-2009 were all
produced in post-socialist Europe throughout the twenty years since the fall of
the Berlin wall. Meant to bring together a range of artistic reflections on the
20th anniversary of the beginning of post-socialism, the Transitland project
emphasizes lived experiences of geopolitical and social change. It neither
makes the Berlin wall a central event, nor its fall a definitive resolutionThe
multiplicity of social and aesthetic movements represented, and of production
qualities and performance styles in the Transitland project intersect in
surprising ways.
